On March 19, the press conference for the 58th China International Furniture Fair (Shanghai), hereinafter referred to as CIFF Shanghai, was successfully held. The conference announced that this edition of the fair will be themed "Design, Intelligence, Sustainability," introducing three major empowerment initiatives covering domestic trade, design, and foreign trade, while officially launching the global call for entries for the 2026 Golden Creation Award. The 58th CIFF Shanghai will be held concurrently and under unified planning with the International Building and Construction Trade Fair, hereinafter referred to as CBD-IBCTF (Shanghai), in September 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai · Hongqiao). On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of WMF –China International Furniture Machinery & Woodworking Machinery Fair (Shanghai), four exhibitions will synergistically upgrade. Joining forces with CBD-IBCTF (Shanghai), the Shanghai International Exhibition on Upholstery Technology for Home Furnishing hereinafter referred to as Upholstery Tech, and WMF (the core segment for furniture manufacturing technology), the collaboration will form a configuration of "Design (CIFF) + Construction (CBD) + Manufacturing (WMF)" as three parallel engines, building a "One-Stop Platform for the Whole Home Furnishings and Construction Sector" covering the entire chain. This marks a comprehensive upgrade for the Hongqiao platform as it transitions from a "display platform" to an "industrial synergy platform." ![]() Gathering Momentum for Empowerment Three Engines Power Through Cycles, Manufacturing Technology Celebrates a 40-Year Milestone Against the backdrop of accelerating dual circulation, consumer demand is shifting from individual products to integrated solutions centered around spaces and lifestyles. Industry competition is moving from "product capability" to "system capability." CIFF Shanghai uses design and channels as its entry point, leveraging its three empowerment systems—domestic trade, design, and foreign trade—to connect brands, designers, and global buyers. Simultaneously, manufacturing capabilities are being upgraded: WMF presents furniture manufacturing technologies and equipment solutions, while the Upholstery Tech focuses on upholstery production processes. Together with CIFF, they form a complete chain from "demand insight – design expression" to "production realization – manufacturing execution," enhancing the platform's depth and efficiency in serving industrial upgrading. Industry Voices | From Platform Synergy to Industrial Upgrade ![]() Yang Huawei, General Manager of CIFF Shanghai, stated that the fair will promote the deep integration of "home furnishings, construction, and industry" through a model of "integrating home and construction, smoothing dual circulation." ![]() Zhu Jiagui, Executive President of Red Star Macalline Group, noted that consumer demand is shifting to whole-home solutions, and the industry is accelerating towards integrated development. ![]() Liu Zhengrong, President of Huadali China, shared that leveraging the CIFF platform, enterprises have achieved rapid brand and channel expansion while successfully developing overseas markets such as the Middle East and Africa. In this context, the linkage between design presentation and scalable manufacturing is becoming increasingly critical. The manufacturing technologies and solutions showcased at WMF serve as a key bridge between emerging design trends and large-scale production. Integrated Living & Building Connecting the Full Value Chain from Design to Production This edition of CIFF Shanghai follows the theme of "Design, Intelligence, Sustainability," connecting the pathway from creativity to production realization and promoting the deep integration of "home furnishings, construction, and manufacturing." 1 | Design Leadership With core initiatives such as Design Hub, Design Forums, and the Golden Creation Award, the fair gathers global design forces, promoting the integration of original design with the industrial system. 2 | Digital Empowerment Through its four-language official website and global social media matrix, combined with AI technology, the fair connects design, materials, and product systems. Building on this, WMF, as the core manufacturing segment, showcases key technologies such as intelligent production lines, flexible manufacturing, and surface treatment. This endows the trends presented by CIFF with the ability to be scaled, driving the industry from creative concepts toward industrial realization. 3 | Sustainability & Globalization By bringing in international brands while empowering Chinese brands to expand overseas, the platform enhances global market connectivity. Overseas visitor attendance is expected to exceed 15,000, supporting Chinese brands in achieving global growth. ![]() Since 2015, CIFF Shanghai and CBD-IBCTF (Shanghai) have deeply cultivated the home furnishings and construction sectors respectively. Starting in 2026, with unified planning, the addition of WMF's manufacturing technology segment will enable the Hongqiao platform to form a complete industrial loop from design creativity to manufacturing realization. This model upgrades the platform's capability from "trend release" to "industrial solution provider," propelling the home furnishings industry from "design-driven" to "design + manufacturing dual-wheel drive." Adapting to Change From Platform Display to Industrial Solutions As the industry shifts from scale expansion to quality-driven competition, enterprises' demands on a platform are evolving from seeking inspiration and orders to seeking more certain pathways for growth. CIFF Shanghai, in collaboration with CBD-IBCTF (Shanghai), the Upholstery Tech, and WMF, provides enterprises with an integrated support system spanning product definition, material selection, and production realization through the integration of design, channels, and manufacturing capabilities. In times of change, only the proactive advance; only the integrated thrive. From 5–8 September 2026, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai Hongqiao), the 58th China International Furniture Fair (CIFF Shanghai) will be held alongside CBD (Shanghai), Upholstery Tech, and WMF. Marking the 40th anniversary of WMF, the four shows will be jointly staged to form a comprehensive platform spanning from demand insight and design to manufacturing realization. This integrated platform aims to advance the home furnishing industry from a “design-driven” model towards a more coordinated “design and manufacturing” approach, while exploring new industry equilibrium with global professionals. The platform is ready. The future is coming. Planning to visit WMF?
