Trends & Insight
Panel furniture manufacturers often face efficiency bottlenecks, such as difficulties in order switching, rework for complex components, unstable edge banding quality, and sorting errors. At WMF, exhibitors will showcase digital manufacturing solutions, including CNC cutting with automatic tool changing, ERP and barcode integration, PUR and laser edge banding, in-line inspection and trimming, as well as AGV-based storage and packaging systems. These solutions enable integrated order-to-production scheduling, support flexible mixed production, and improve consistency and overall efficiency.
Solid wood furniture manufacturing often faces challenges such as precision control, high error rates, and complex processes when pursuing high-quality finishes. At WMF, exhibitors will present advanced solutions including AI-assisted material selection and panel joining, five-axis machining centers, integrated mortising, carving and drilling, piano-key sanding systems, curved surface spraying technologies, as well as MES-driven data integration and automated tool changing. These solutions enhance surface quality and machining accuracy, reduce errors, and shorten production cycles, enabling a better balance between quality and efficiency.
With the rise of design-driven and high-end custom furniture, edge banding is evolving to meet challenges such as complex shapes, material waste, and quality consistency. At WMF, exhibitors will present multi-process edge banding solutions, including laser, PUR, and EVA technologies, capable of handling straight edges, curves, 45 degree bevels, and handle-free integrated designs. These are supported by precise glue dosing, temperature control systems, and in-line polishing. The new generation of edge banding technologies enhances design flexibility, supports small-batch production, and ensures both seamless appearance and structural strength.
In the transition towards sustainable manufacturing, panelboard and plywood production often face challenges such as low automation levels, high labor dependency, and inconsistent efficiency. At WMF, exhibitors will present upgrading solutions including intelligent hot pressing, gluing, forming, trimming, and sanding processes, combined with precise adhesive dosing and residual glue recycling to enhance environmental performance. In addition, integrated stacking and internal logistics systems, along with energy consumption monitoring, help reduce labor costs, improve efficiency, and ensure consistent production, supporting the shift toward greener, scalable manufacturing.
Furniture manufacturers today face multiple challenges, including disconnected workflows between design and production, errors in order breakdown, reliance on manual experience, as well as labor shortages and a lack of skilled workers. Digitalization connects the entire workflow - from design and order processing to production - allowing data to flow seamlessly across systems. This reduces human error, standardizes operations, and lowers reliance on highly skilled labor. At WMF, visitors will not only see integrated solutions such as CAD/CAM and ERP/MES systems, but also how automation is implemented on the shop floor, including full-servo edge banding machines, intelligent cutting systems, and robotic loading and sorting solutions. Combined with closed-loop data systems, these technologies simplify operations and improve process control, enabling stable, flexible, and scalable production even under labor constraints.
Upholstery manufacturing has traditionally been labor-intensive, facing challenges such as labor shortages, fragmented processes, and inconsistent product quality. At WMF, exhibitors will showcase upgraded solutions including digital nesting and cutting systems, automated fabric cutting, sewing and filling automation, as well as mattress production equipment. Integrated with CAD/CAM systems and production data management, these solutions connect design, cutting, and production processes, reducing reliance on manual labor while improving consistency. This helps increase material efficiency, reduce errors, and move upholstery manufacturing towards more standardized and scalable production.
